You Can Be A Peacemaker

“Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.”- Jesus, Matthew 5:9

“To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one’s family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one’s own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.” – Buddha

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” – Albert Einstein

“Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.”- Saint Francis de Sales

“Peace is not absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.” – Ronald Reagan

“Happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give – pleasure, possessions, power – but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy.” – Dada Vaswani

“If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner.” – Nelson Mandela

“Peace demands the most heroic labor and the most difficult sacrifice. It demands greater heroism than war. It demands greater fidelity to the truth and a much more perfect purity of conscience.” – Thomas Merton

“God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing.” – C. S. Lewis

“If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.” – Mother Teresa

“Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.” – John Lennon

As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen

“To create a world of peace I have spent my life going to the most lowly and secluded places. I met mothers in Africa who could only watch helplessly as their children died of hunger, I met fathers in South America who lived by a river full of fish but couldn’t support their families by fishing.

At first all I did was simply share my food, but they granted me their love in return. Intoxicated with the power of love, I went on to plant seeds and cultivate forests, and these trees were used to build schools. Together we caught fish to feed hungry children. I was happy even as mosquitos bit me all over as I fished all through the night. Even when I was sinking knee-deep into mud, I was happy because I could see the shadows of despair disappear from the faces of my neighbors.

Even now, I am filled with love that I have not been able to give. It is with a prayer that this love will become a river of peace saturating the drought stricken land and flowing to the ends of the earth that I place this book before the world.” – Sun Myung Moon, (from the Foreword of his autobiography)
