Disappointment Happens

Man with fist and eyes closed“If we will be quiet and ready enough, we shall find compensation in every disappointment.” – Henry David Thoreau

“We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Our heavenly Father understands our disappointment, suffering, pain, fear, and doubt. He is always there to encourage our hearts and help us understand that He’s sufficient for all of our needs. When I accepted this as an absolute truth in my life, I found that my worrying stopped.” – Charles Stanley

“We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret or disappointment.” – Jim Rohn

“Sometimes when you get disappointment it makes you stronger.” – David Rudisha

“As someone who has faced as much disappointment as most people, I’ve come to trust not that events will always unfold exactly as I want, but that I will be fine either way.” – Marianne Williamson

“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.”  – Romans 5:3-5 (NLT)

There’s always another plan

It’s natural to have expectations and experience disappointments in life, but it’s a problem if we get stuck in that place. A disappointment should be something like a road sign that lets us know we have to do something different.

This week Pastor Heather starts a new sermon series called Disappointment With God. Check back on Tuesday for this Sunday’s message.
